Silence, panoramic views, and pure nature
Vent – the mountains at your fingertips
All around Vent, you’ll find peaceful spots filled with natural beauty and tranquillity – just a few steps from the Hotel Post! Prepare to be amazed.
When you throw open your window in the morning, you see golden light bathing the peaks around Vent. The heavenly stillness reminds you that you’re far from the hectic pace of everyday life.
Our first recommendation for the day’s outing? A hike to the “Hohler Stein” in Niedertal, an archaeological site dating back to the time of hunter-gatherers. From there, the trail continues across expansive high plateaus where only birdsong breaks the silence.
Next, the trail leads up to the Rofenhöfe – a group of traditional Alpine farms situated at around 2,014 metres above sea level, making them some of the highest year-round inhabited farms in Austria. They offer breathtaking views of the glaciers and high Alpine valleys – and an atmosphere that’s become increasingly rare in the world: soothing solitude.
Be sure to take time to explore the “Venter Panorama Höhenweg”. This panoramic high-altitude trail follows the ridgeline, offering views of shifting light, eternal snowfields, and larch and Swiss stone pine forests.
At daybreak, a guided hike to one of the surrounding three-thousand-metre peaks is well worth the early start (weather permitting). Up above the clouds, the world feels vast and clear, and each step is rewarded with awe-inspiring views.
As evening falls, don’t forget to look up: in Vent, the night sky is untouched by light pollution – crisp, silent, and full of stars. In this natural observatory, the Milky Way gleams bright, and the silence settles all around you.
One important note: Vent is a traditional mountain village with only around one hundred residents – a place that moves in harmony with the seasons. Each quiet spot invites you to be mindfully present – in walking, in observing, in stillness.
