Forest bathing in Vent
Bathing in the atmosphere of the forest
“Hugging trees”:, That’s what many call it. Others – those who may have tried it themselves – know that it is much more than that.
Forest bathing is an invention of the Japanese, who call it “Shinrin Yoku”, which literally means “bathing in the atmosphere of the forest”. In the 1980s, after two Japanese people died because of too much stress, physicians started prescribing this new form of “bathing”.
Studies have shown that the forest has a positive effect on our health, especially on our airways, cardiovascular functions, and immune system. First off, there are the terpenes, with their strong and often pleasant odours, which are released by the trees. Then there is the heightened humidity and oxygen concentration as well as the deep green of the forest, which is also beneficial for body and mind.
When forest bathing in the Austrian Alps, holidays can quickly become a healing journey. Forest bathing combines a leisurely forest walk of a few hours with mindfulness and breathing exercises as well as relaxation techniques such as yoga or qigong. Find out more at our hotel!
