Mmm, that’s delicious!
Our biscuit recipe
Christmas is the time for delicious food, precious family moments, and a calm atmosphere.
What would Christmas be without biscuits? Some of the traditional Tyrolean ones are “Spitzbuben”, “Vanillekipferl”, and “Nougatkipferl”. You should definitely try them during your Austrian family holidays. Do you want to bake them yourself? Here’s Caroline’s favourite recipe for cinnamon biscuits.
Ingredients for 12 portions:
230g flour
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 bag of lemon peel
150g butter (room temperature)
100g sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tsp clove powder
Preparation:
Beat butter, egg yolks, and sugar for a couple of minutes until the mixture is smooth and foamy. Add flour, clove powder, cinnamon, and lemon peel and then mix well together. Put the mixture in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Roll out the dough thinly on a work surface covered in flour. Cut out little stars. Place the biscuits on a baking tray and bake for 10-12 minutes at 160 degrees. If you wish to, you can cover the surface of your biscuits with lemon glaze.
